A place that is my home and a part of my history. My life has been a curious life. All my life my family has been lost, so today i'm going to Africa. What influenced me to go was a book called Roots. I'm going to follow Alex Haley's footsteps and go to Africa to find my where my anscetors came from. The meaning of Africa to me is "The home I live". I am very excited to go to Africa.
The sight that my crystal brown eyes see is beautiful. The sweet smell of nature, the sound of Lilac Brested roller birds flying in the sunset sky. I'm in Bostswana, Africa. I saw a friend there.
"Coblah", I said while feeling my heart beating like two balls dribbling on the ground. I was happy he was there. We meet at college learning black history together. While showing Coblah and a group of tourist what I was looking for, a person wearing a colorful pattern cloth with sandals on feet, walked by. I was thinking to myself I should have brought my sandals and not my Nike's. I felt like a buffoon that day. "Ha your up, What are you doing here let's go" I'm mistake as a Griot.
I'm a bewildered person right now. "This can't be happening. "A Gnot,a historical strory teller", I said with a panic attack. A room with pic of animals almost faded out and children 6-12 seating down and a big strong black men playing the balafon, the ngoni, and the kora. A gnot or storyteller continues the oral tradition of West African culture. The gnot memorized all important events that occured there.
"Well, since I'm next what should I do", I said to myself. "Kids this is a sory called "The gift of a cowtail switch". A great warrior did not return from his hunt. His family gave him up for dead, all except his youngest child..........
Two hours later..........
The experience in Africa was amazing. I never did find my real ancestors but I'll be back,I know it. Thanks for reading my experiences.
